Lorice Ann Woner, born September 27, 1931, in Winfield, Kansas, was the daughter of Paul and Alberta Miller, lifelong Winfield residents. She is survived by her sister, Janet, 95, of Holt, Michigan, and was preceded in death by her younger brother, Corky.
In her youth, Lorice Ann cultivated a love for music, playing the viola in orchestra, taking voice lessons, and playing the piano. After graduating from Winfield High in 1949, she pursued higher education at Kansas State University, earning a degree in Home Economics. In 1952, shortly after graduation, she married Martin Woner of Rock, Kansas.
The newlyweds spent their early years in the Air Force, living in Florida and Cape Cod before settling in Battle Creek, Michigan, where they welcomed their first son, Bruce, in 1954. They later moved to Liberal, Kansas, where Martin served as the Agriculture County Agent in Seward County. The family eventually put down roots in Hutchinson, Kansas, where Martin worked for a division of Cessna Aircraft for several decades. Their second son, Kent, was born in 1959.
During their time in Hutchinson, the Woners were active members of Park Place Christian Church. Both sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the late '60s and early '70s. Lorice Ann's community involvement extended to judging 4-H Demonstrations at the Kansas State Fair for many years. For over two decades, she owned and operated "Helping Hands," a preschool where she nurtured countless young children. Known for her culinary skills, Lorice Ann enjoyed cooking, baking, and hosting her many friends.
Later in Martin's career, the couple relocated to Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Upon retirement in 1991, they moved to Topeka, Kansas, and in 2012, they settled at Brewster Place. Martin passed away in 2015 at the age of 87. Following the loss of her son Bruce in early 2022, Lorice Ann moved to St. Ann's Skilled Nursing in the summer of 2023 to be closer to Kent and family.
Lorice Ann's legacy lives on through her family: her late son Bruce's wife, Patricia Reeder of Topeka; grandson Ben of Topeka; and granddaughter Laura Delfelder with her husband C.J. of Manhattan, KS. Her son Kent and his wife Julie Gies Woner reside in Edmond, OK, along with their son Charles and his wife April. Kent's daughter Emily Brink and her husband Westin live in OKC. Lorice Ann was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Pierce (8), Lila (2), Calvin (5), and Elliot (3).
A graveside ceremony will take place at Highland Cemetery in Winfield Kansas at 11 a.m. on Saturday November the 2nd.

Lorice Ann was like a surrogate mother to me in recent years. Our history goes back to Hutchinson in 1969, and I love her so much. While I will not be able to attend the memorial service, you will all be in my thoughts.
