Lorna Staples Clark, 91, passed away peacefully in her home July 10, 2024.
She was born April 18, 1933, in Camden County, North Carolina to the late Milton Bray Staples and Stella Baum Staples.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Richard G. Clark CDR, USN Ret.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Isphording and Martha-Ellen Green and husband Nathaniel, and grandchildren Allyson Morgan Isphording and Clark V. Kane.
Lorna graduated from Elizabeth City High School in 1951 and Meredith College in 1955. Lorna married her loving husband Richard G. Clark "Dick", April 26, 1958.
During her years, Lorna enjoyed her life as a Navy wife, teacher, mother, and grandmother fondly called "E". She and Dick shared many wonderful memories on sailing adventures with friends. They loved socializing with many close friends they had met along the way. Lorna enjoyed playing Mah Jong with "the ladies". She was also very proud of her teaching career and seeing her former students in and around Virginia Beach.
Lorna took great pride spending time with her extended family in the Outer Banks. Her "Carolina Cousins" were very dear to her.
The family would also like to thank Virginia Beach Premier Medical and Shenelle Care, LLC.
A funeral service will be held at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Rd. Chapel on Friday, July 19th at 1:00 PM. The family will take her ashes to be interned alongside her husband at the Columbarium at Galilee Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the VB Rescue Squad or charity of your choice.

My first teaching job was at Lynnhaven Junior High in 1979. Lorna took me under her wing and nurtured me through my first year of teaching! She was always there for me!
We reconnected when she lived in the Virginia House. She was a role model, a friend and an inspiration to me! I am a better person having know Lorna!
