Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeVito Funeral Home on Mar. 26, 2024.
Lorna Leone (Bramley) passed away January 7, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old. She is survived by six children: sons David Jr. and wife Denise, Robert and wife Adrian, John and wife Pauline and daughters Adrienne, Suzanne and husband John Lindner, and Madeline Moffett and husband Michael and her sole sibling, John R. Bramley.
She was predeceased by her husband David, and grandson Paul Leone. She was born to Dewey and Maude Bramley on November 11, 1932, in Delhi NY. Following high school, she attended Syracuse University where she met her future husband, David Leone. They were wed in June of 1953, settling first at Fort Indiantown Gap PA, and eventually in Arlington MA where they raised six children.
For all who knew her, Lorna was a positive and upbeat personality who made others feel at ease, regardless of age. Having grown up in a rural community she was fond of outdoor activities and encouraged her children to do the same. She was active in the Arlington PTA and the Brownies. The Leone house was always a home to friends of the family, in large part because of Lorna. She welcomed them, including for lunch or dinner, which became a routine occurrence for many. She maintained contact with them well into adulthood.
Aside from community service her passions included entertaining, dining out, and traveling with her husband David. Entertaining at home was a favorite activity, whether it was small groups of friends or the large extended family dinners on Sundays and holidays. This was a highlight of family life.
Lorna and David enjoyed traveling with friends, especially to annual reunions with Syracuse classmates to watch SU football games around the country. In later years they toured Europe every few years, with Italy's Amalfi coast and Venice among their favorites.
Aside from her children Lorna is survived by 14 grandchildren (and spouses): Matthew Leone, Amanda Leone (Alyx Gallagher), Julia Leone, Sophia Leone (Eric Reeder), Micaela Leone, Laura Leone, Christopher Rockwell (Kelsie), Patrick Kermond (Michelle), Alex Kermond, William Kermond, Mirabel Kermond, Benjamin Lindner, Sarah Lindner, and Michael Moffett, and great-grandchildren Sadie and Olive Kermond.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday from 4-7 pm at the DeVito Funeral Home,1145 Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington.
