Lorraine DaLuz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - West Military Dr. on Sep. 11, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Lorraine Bernadette DaLuz, beloved mother of six children, and cherished wife of the late Antonio Vieria DaLuz, Jr., passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on October 10, 1934, in Lemoore, California, Lorraine centered her life around her family, with whom she shared her love, warmth, and sassy sense of humor.

Lorraine was a devoted mother to Steven DaLuz, (Donna), Kathrine Maple, (David), Gary DaLuz (Dora), Robert DaLuz (Lisa), Jorgina Lane (Todd), and her youngest daughter, Sandra, who lived with and cared for her lovingly for the past 17 years. Lorraine, one of six sisters, is survived by two of her siblings: Irene Amaro and Shirley Stites.

Lorraine developed her toughness early on while growing up on a dairy farm in Hanford, California, where she would milk cows and complete chores each morning before going to school. Her mother died at the early age of thirty from cancer, when Lorraine was just 11 years old. She became resilient through challenging times and married her high school sweetheart, "Tony", at the age of eighteen. As the wife of a military man, she embarked on a journey that saw her travel and set up household with her family in five different States, as well as overseas in Japan, Germany, and Okinawa. When Tony, the love of her life, passed in 1982 at the youthful age of 48, she remained a devoted widow cherishing the memories of their life together.

Lorraine's family was the centerpiece of her life, and she welcomed her roles as a grandmother and great-grandmother gently, and with open arms. Her life is celebrated by her loving family, including her adored grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael, (Kirstie), David, Christina (Paul), Richard (Jenn), Bradly (Salina), Kevin (Salena), Stephanie, Brittany, Shannon, as well as her 11 great-grandchildren; Austin, Aidan, Tristan, Liam, Gavin, Dillon, Abbey, Andi, Nathaniel, Bryson and Roman.

Lorraine had a competitive spirit, which she engaged in bowling leagues at different Air bases in the States and abroad. This trait extended into game nights during home bunco parties with friends and family. One of her most enjoyable pleasures was playing Yahtzee with her daughters, though at times the sons joined in as well. Her prowess with those dice became so legendary, she was practically unbeatable and was dubbed, the "Yahtzee Queen". Lorraine became an ardent fan of the game show network, particularly Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, and Jeopardy. She was an enthusiastic booster for the John Jay Mustangs football team when her son, Robert was a fullback and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs. She also took pleasure in decorating cakes like a pro, gardening and creating handmade crafts. She enjoyed the singing of Andy Williams, and was a huge, lifelong fan of Elvis Presley. Three years ago, though in a wheelchair, family members took her to Graceland, where she spent a few days enjoying the legacy of her favorite singer. Lorraine took her final breath as Elvis finished singing the hymn, "Amazing Grace".

As we remember Lorraine, we celebrate a life filled with loyalty and love for family. Her impact expressed the values she embodied: kindness, compassion, and a loving heart that knew no bounds. The memory of Lorraine Bernadette DaLuz will be held in high regard, and her kindness will continue to serve as an inspiration to all who were blessed to know and love her.
