Lorraine C. Dargis, of Monroe, NY, passed away on January 13, 2026, at Garnet Health Medical Center in Wallkill, NY. She was 98 years old. The daughter of the late Charles A. and Margaret (Barters) Schnall, she was born on May 15, 1927, in New York, NY.
Lorraine worked as an Supervisor for New York Telephone in New York, NY. She was a member of St. Anastasia Parish in Harriman, NY.
Lorraine was well loved and admired by all she knew and met. She was a woman who persevered many trials yet came through all with such strength and a smile. Lorraine was a woman of deep faith, a devout Catholic who prayed for all she knew who were in need of help. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life, but, she also loved all children and could not resist playing with each child she encountered. They all loved her gentleness and playfulness. Lorraine loved to cook, sew, crochet, and do crafts. Her home is filled with her fine creations and memories.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Suzanne Gilman and her husband David of Conway, SC, Joseph Dargis and his wife Nancy of New Milford, NJ, Mary Scolza and her husband Bill of Monroe, NY, Kathleen Laginestra and her husband Charles of Oakland, NJ, Lorraine Yorke and her husband Thomas of Windermere, FL, and Paul Dargis and his wife Lisa of Clermont, FL. Also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Kenneth, Amanda, Nicole, Samantha, Eric, Danielle, Anthony, Lorraine, Matthew, Raquel, and Rocco, as well as her great-grandchildren, Michelle, Maximillian, and Madilynn. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by her son, Thomas Dargis; her daughter, Margaret Giaimo; and her grandson, Kevin.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Smith, Seaman, & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Tuesday, January 20th, at St. Anastasia Church, 110 Route 17M, Harriman, NY, followed by interment at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens, NY.
