Michael T Dargis, 77, passed away on February 6, 2025. Mike was born on December 13, 1947, to the late Violet Faeger in Detroit, Michigan.
Just before his passing, he shared heartwarming stories of how he met his beautiful wife. He fondly recalled meeting her on the 4th of July and instantly knowing she was the one he wanted to marry. Their wedding took place the following month, on August 31, 1968. He described her as the "foxiest" woman he had ever laid eyes on, a sentiment that still holds true to this day. He reflected on his time in the military and being stationed in Alaska and then spoke of the responsibility he felt to provide for his family of three small children. This drive led him to a fulfilling career as a Maintenance Foreman with the City of Detroit Water Department. He also dedicated his time as a Boy Scout leader for his son's troop, forging lifelong memories and an unbreakable bond between them. Their relationship transcended that of father and son, evolving into a deep friendship.
He cherished moments spent on his property in Applegate, a place saturated in family history as it had once belonged to his grandfather. Recalling adventures from his youth, he delighted in creating new memories with his beloved family. His stories painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived, filled with love, dedication, and cherished moments. He had a passion for the casino, where luck always seemed to be on his side. When he wasn't trying his hand at the slots, he could be found in the garage tinkering with cars, fixing arcade games with his son, or working on lawn equipment. A true handyman, he loved using his hands to create and repair. Always willing to step up and help with any home repairs, he was a master of many trades, and shared those talents with many family and friends when needed. During his quiet moments, he found solace in the outdoors while sitting on his back patio or playing video poker on his phone or tablet. Like his mother, he had a knack for thrifting and enjoyed scouring for hidden treasures with his wife. However, the greatest treasures in his life were his family and spending time with his grandkids, watching them grow, and supporting them at music concerts and sporting events.
Christmas Eve held a special place in his heart as he donned a Santa hat with a smile, distributing gifts to his loved ones. He cherished road trips with his son, often joining him on business trips during retirement. Discovering a newfound love for cruising, he embarked on a memorable journey with his entire family and later celebrated his 50th anniversary with his beloved wife. His home was always bustling with grandkids, and he played an active role in their lives, leaving a lasting impact on each of them. His presence was felt in every aspect of their daily routines, shaping them in profound ways.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
