Lorraine Fettes age 89 of Ashton, Iowa died Monday, December 23, 2024, at the George Good Samaritan Home.
Inurnment will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Ashton.
A mass will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 4th at St. Mary Catholic Church of Ashton, IA, with Father Siby Punnoose celebrating.
Lorraine Victoria Fettes was born November 7, 1935, in Ashton, IA, the daughter of Lawrence and Ida (Hatting) Stallman.
She was raised in Ashton and attended St. Joseph’s grade school and graduated from Melvin High School in 1953 at Melvin, IA.
Lorraine was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Fettes on May 28, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, IA.
They farmed the local Fettes farm until 1989 and moved into Ashton in 1996. Lorraine was a proud farm wife and mother. She also was employed at the Cedar Cabin as a waitress and the Ashton State Bank, as a teller and bookkeeper. On December 29, 1998, Lorraine’s husband, Kenneth passed away.
She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, active with the St. Mary’s Guild, the Catholic Daughters of America and the William Ben Hoffman American Legion Post No. 290 of Ashton.
In August of 2019 she entered Fieldcrest Assisted Living in Sheldon, IA and later Good Samaritan Society in George, IA, where she passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the age of 89.
She is survived by five of her children, Mary Kay (Kevin W.) Fields of Randolph, NJ, Thomas (Mary) Fettes of Sibley, IA, Ronald (Debra) Fettes of Layton, UT, Nancy (Greg) Brewster of Sheldon, IA and Pamela Durst of Sioux Falls, SD; twelve grandchildren, Gregory and Sarah Fields, Brandon, Jamie and Brian Fettes, Jessica (Tim) Cook, Christopher (Jessica) Fettes, Courtney (Jimmy) Smith and Robin Fettes, Kayla Doorenbos, Michelle Durst and Haley Berg; great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eunice Fettes of Sheldon, IA and Vicki Stallman of Sun City, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Ida Stallman; loving husband of 41 years, Kenneth W. Fettes; an infant son, Kenneth W. Fettes; son, James Anthony Fettes; one sister, Hilda Berreau; and two brothers, Marvin Stallman and Clarence Stallman.
