Robert David Fettes Sr., 84, of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born on April 23, 1941, in East Liverpool, OH, the son of the late David and Betty (Gibbons) Fettes.
Mr. Fettes graduated from Cambridge High School in 1959 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1960-1962 as an airman. He graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies.
Mr. Fettes proudly founded Plus 1 Pizza in 1977, a local business he poured his heart into, operating it for many years alongside his wife and sons, serving the surrounding communities. He took great pride in establishing Plus 1 Pizza, working alongside his family to build several cherished local establishments. Mr. Fettes was a longtime member of Stop 9 Church of Christ and particularly cherished his role of teaching Bible Class for many years, a pursuit he found deeply rewarding. He also enjoyed writing a weekly guest column for the Daily Jeffersonian for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Nancy L. Fettes, whom he married on July 16, 1963; his son, Jerry Fettes; his sister, Carol (Fettes) Fisher; and his brother, Jerry Sproat.
He is survived by one brother, Randy Sproat; his sons, Bob (Debbi) Fettes Jr. and Michael Fettes, all of Cambridge; grandchildren, Colton, Quintin (Carolyn), Kelsey, Gabrielle, and Kaitlyn; four great-grandchildren, Maisy, Olivia, Brynlee, and Bailey, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 11AM to 1PM at Stop 9 Church of Christ, 60330 Southgate Road, Byesville, OH 43723, with the funeral service to follow at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Stop 9 Church of Christ.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his legacy of hard work and family devotion will live on.
A burial at Guernsey Memory Gardens will be held at a later date.
