Lorraine Katan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Saul Colonial Home on Feb. 15, 2026.
Lorraine T. Katan, 68, of Atco, NJ, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Born in Long Island, NY, Lorraine graduated from Plainview-Old Bethpage High School, Class of 1975. She was a long-time resident of Hamilton, NJ, where she raised her family. Professionally, she worked as the Director of Child Care at the Hamilton Area YMCA until her retirement.

Lorraine embraced life fully, and had a zest for good times. She had a passion for travel, especially visiting Disney Parks and vacationing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where she delighted in spotting her favorite animal - the moose - and collected moose keepsakes as treasured reminders of those trips. Music filled her life; she treasured attending concerts and counted Jimmy Buffett, Billy Joel, John Denver, and The Killers among her favorites. She loved exploring local wineries and craft breweries with her children, tending to her garden, and strolling along the boardwalks of the Jersey Shore.

A devoted fan of Jimmy Buffett, Lorraine fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a Bernese Mountain dog, lovingly naming him Pirate. Above all, Lorraine cherished time spent with her family. Holidays were especially meaningful to her, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart as her favorite time of year.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Jean (Gul) Katan. She is survived by her beloved children and their spouses: Tara Kucker (Thomas), Evan Hendrick (Rossana), Tyler Hendrick (Cathryn), Zachary Hendrick (Kaitlyn), and Brianna Rue (Daniel); her cherished grandchildren, Vanessa, Michael, Delyth, Ieuan, and Samuel; siblings Joseph Katan and Florence Ierulli; and her loyal canine companion, Pirate.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with Funeral Services to begin directly following at 2:00p.m. at Saul Colonial Home, 3759 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
