Lorraine E. Kurszewski, 89, of Plover, formerly of Rosholt, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Portage County Health Care Center.
Lorraine was born on August 4, 1935, at home, the daughter of Joseph and Esther (Firkus) Stanislawski.
Lorraine grew up in the Rosholt area, attending Catholic School and church. She later achieved her teaching degree and worked as a grade school teacher in Burlington for a few years.
On June 29, 1957, Lorraine was united in marriage to Anthony Kurszewski at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church in Rosholt. He preceded her in death on April 12, 2008. Together Lorraine and Anthony, lived and raised their family in the Milwaukee/Greenfield area for 37 years. They enjoyed traveling, taking many trips and cruises. Lorraine worked at Boston Store, in the fine jewelry department for over 23 years, until her retirement. Lorraine was a social butterfly, befriending people so easily. She had many friends in the area and after moving back to the Rosholt area, she would talk on the phone for hours with family and friends. Lorraine always said, "the free long-distance phone was the best gift, and she would be lost without her calls."
Faith was very important to Lorraine. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galloway, volunteering often for the harvest dinner, she was known as the 'noodle lady.' Lorraine enjoyed going shopping with her sister. She loved Polka music, both listening to polkas and dancing at church picnics. She liked being outside working in her vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Lorraine was a Wisconsin sports fan, often watching the Packers, Bucks, Badgers, Brewers and Marquette University games.
Lorraine is survived by four children, Tamara (Dean) Laing, Todd (Kim) Kurszewski, Michelle (Mike) McCue and Chad (Shirmela) Kurszewski; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Aglialoro, Michael (Lizzie) Laing, Nicole (Zach) Hall, Danielle Kurszewski, Megan (John) Palmer, Matthew (Meghan) McCue and Priya Kurszewski; five great-grandchildren, Eloise, Madeline, Liam, Kylah and Noah; three siblings, Pat (Don) Lychwick, Andy (Jackie) Stanislawski and Stella (Gary) Hawley and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
