Lorraine Lally

Lorraine Lally, 80, died peacefully on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Brightview Concord River in Billerica.
Born in Cambridge on April 5, 1945, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Joseph L. Lally and Mildred A. (Joyce) Lally. She made Billerica her home for the past 60 years, where she built a life centered on family, community, and the simple joys she noticed more deeply than most.
Lorraine worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory prior to her retirement. She also stayed actively engaged in her town, serving as a Billerica Town Representative, a role that reflected how much she cared about the people and place she called home.
Above all, Lorraine loved her family. She took special pride in being "Yaya" to her great-nephews, Theo and Sammy, carrying that title with pure joy. She also delighted in being the traveling Great Auntie to her nephew's seven children, visiting them wherever in the world they were stationed.
Despite her age, she stayed full of life and always up for an adventure. She loved chasing moments: fireworks whenever she could, waves along the North Shore, and, most of all, rainbows. If Lorraine spotted one, she made sure everyone else did too. Warm, outgoing, and effortlessly easy to talk to, Lorraine had a gift for bringing out the best in others.
Lorraine is survived by her sisters, Denise Ploski (husband Kenneth) of Billerica and Susan McLaughlin (husband Michael), also of Billerica; her sister-in-law, Sydney Lally; her nephew, James Ploski (wife Maria); her nieces, Kara Ploski, Elissa Ploski (husband Shawn Maguire), Megan McLaughlin, and Melissa McLaughlin; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, and many friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Lally.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 22 at St. Matthew the Evangelist Parish at St. Theresa Church, 466 Boston Rd., Billerica, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
