Lorraine Catherine Prokes
June 20, 1932 - December 28, 2022
Lorraine died peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2022, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 90.
Lorraine was born in Chicago, Il to Edward and Katherine Prokes. Lorraine was married to Maris E. Zischka in June of 1950, with whom she shared four children. Lorraine attended Miami-Dade Community College and was a long-term member of St. Brendan's Catholic Church.
Lorraine is remembered as petite, attractive and always stylish. She was a whirlwind of a woman, posessing boundless energy and a lover of life in general. In her youth and beyond, she was athetlic, enjoyed teaching swimming lessons for the Red Cross.
Lorraine's pride and joy were her children, for whom she worked tirelessly to provide for. She enjoyed countless close friendships made over the years, especially through Jimmy's Hurricane, Yorkshire Inn and Sid's Piano Bar, her long-term employer. She was an avid reader and lover of the arts.
Lorraine leaves behind her son, Lawrence (Count) Zischka, his wife, Patricia (Duris) Zischka, daughter, Lynn (Zischka) Proe, her husband, David Proe, grandsons Christopher and Lance Zischka, grandaughter Cheyenne Visconti, and son-in-law Steven Visconti, great granddaughters Abigail and Olivia Zischka.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Katherine Prokes, her son Kenneth Zischka, her daughter, Lisa Zischka Visconti, and her former husband, Maris E. Zischka, with whom she maintained a close friendship until his death in 2006.
