Lorraine Caroline Schaper, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at the St. Johns Woodlands Campus in Albert Lea. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Kelly Heide will be officiating.

Lorraine was born at her parent’s home on June 12, 1939 in rural Minnesota Lake, MN to Eldern and Sylvia Schnoor. Growing up, she was a member of the St. Paul’s Church and was confirmed on May 3, 1953. Lorraine attended the Country School-District 61 until 6th grade, and graduated from the Minnesota Lake High School in 1957as the salutatorian. She married Henry Schaper on November 19, 1960 at the St. Paul’s Church. To that union, was born their son Wesley William Schaper. She started working at the Wells Federal Savings and Loan Bank, and then at the US Bank in Albert Lea for 41 years, retiring as a branch manager.

She would volunteer at the St. Johns Community, and also staffed the hospital auxiliary coffee shop. Lorraine enjoyed many activities. Lorraine was a member of the local BPW, the Albert Lea Senior Center, and the Ascension Lutheran Church WELCA. She loved to read, garden, and playing cards with her friends. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling to Sertoma activities with her husband. She could always be counted on attending all her family’s activities.

Lorraine is survived by her son Wesley (Pam) Schaper of Waseca; grandchildren Samuel (Sarah) Schaper of Waseca, Abby (Spencer) Wacholz of Albert Lea, Heather Jellum (Brian Borglum) of Duluth; great-grandson Henry William Schaper; grandson Baby Wacholz on the way. Her brother Harold (Karen) Schnoor of Minnesota Lake; sister Jean (Neil) Groskreutz of Wells; along with several nieces and nephews.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Henry William Schaper; and her parents Eldern and Sylvia Schnoor.
