Lorraine Scheps Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Freeman Funeral Homes - Manalapan on Jan. 14, 2026.
Lorraine Scheps, 96, of Manalapan, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Born in the Bronx, New York, she spent her teen years in Coney Island. Lorraine later made New Jersey her home, 30 years in Perth Amboy, and another 30 in Marlboro. The last few years she was a resident of MiraVie in Manalapan.
Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed a long and successful career as a Public Accountant. A graduate of Baruch College CUNY, she was deeply dedicated to her profession and worked at Bart and Bart in Woodbridge, NJ, for over 30 years until her retirement.
Lorraine was known for her sharp mind, strong work ethic, and quiet grace. She was kind, caring and generous. In her free time she enjoyed mahjong, reading, travel, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed volunteering at schools and other organizations that gave back to the community.
Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved parents, Max and Celia Zelbo; her devoted husband, Irving Scheps; and her brother, Daniel Zelbo. She is survived by her loving children, Marcy (and Thomas) Rosendale and Richard (and Debra) Scheps; her cherished grandchildren, Allyson (and Peter) Czerwinski, Gillian (and Eric)
Munshower, Taylor Scheps, and Madison Scheps; and her adored great-grandchildren, Isla Czerwinski and Nora Czerwinski. In addition she is survived by her sister-in-law and numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family kindly requests that a memorial donation be made to The American Heart Association or Bnai Brith.org in Lorraine's memory.
