Linden Funerals & Cremation, LLCLorraine D. Schroeder, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Buffalo Grove, IL. An avid singer, Lorraine was most certainly singing along in her head to her favorite music right up until the end. Just recently celebrating her 86th birthday, Lorraine's warmth and generous heart touched all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born on November 11, 1939, in Sheboygan, WI, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Anton and Carmelita Leibham. Her roots remained in Wisconsin while she moved with her growing family numerous times over the years.
Lorraine was a fantastic seamstress and continued sewing up until she turned 80. She went from sewing to puzzle making. She was called the Puzzle Lady while she was at the retirement home. She continued to love making puzzles even when her dementia made it difficult to find the right piece and get it in that tiny spot correctly. After she moved to memory care, Lorraine became an ardent colorer. She particularly liked to color flowers and animals. She was often seen coloring late into the evening at the nurses' station or early in the morning in the dining room. She was the envy of the third floor with her ability! Throughout her life, Lorraine loved to sing. She could remember all the words to songs throughout her dementia journey. It gave her much joy to share her talent with others on a daily basis.
Lorraine was the cornerstone of a large, bustling family. She will be missed by her children Mark (Patty) Schroeder, Lynn Schroeder, Jeff (Laura) Schroeder, Susan Jones, Lisa (Ronnie) Robertson and Diane (Dave) Westbrook. Lorraine was the proud grandmother of Dan, Mary, Ed, Alexandra, Jackson, Ben, Kim, Hannah, Brandon, Derrick, Peter, Becky, Ryan, Drew, Jessica, and Jordan. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth (Sue) Leibham.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Carmelita Leibham, her daughter, Jane Seddon, and her two sisters, Barbara Kaestner and Phyllis Hendrikse.
Lorraine will be remembered for her strength, her nurturing nature, and the simple, yet profound, joy she found in life's everyday moments. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive by the multitude of lives she touched.
May she rest in eternal peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on December 12, 2025 at St. Joseph's church in Libertyville, Illinois.
Inurnment will take place at Calvary Cemetery Sheboygan 902 North Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53083 at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) would be appreciated.
