Shirley D. Bornstein, nee Dickler, age 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep, in the home that she and her late husband Bernard, first built and then lived in for 52 years. Together, they built not just a home, but a loving life which spanned 75 years and produced 5 sons. She was a loyal, loving mother to each of her children, dedicating each day of their early lives to helping them grow and become men; men they could not have become if not for her unwavering support, positivity, and belief in each of them. She then brought that same love, support, and guidance to each of her daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all who entered her home. Loving mother of Bruce (Maureen) Bornstein, Scott (Ruth) Bornstein, Mitchell Bornstein, the late Ira (Sandy) Bornstein, and the late Ian Bornstein; proud grandmother of Shelley (Jordan), Bradley, Joshua (Rachael), Adam (Rachel), Aaron (Candace), Jordan (Kayla), Gabriel, Samara, Brett, Seth, and Nicole; adored great-grandmother of Ryan, Blake, Avram, Amari, Bode, Asher, Penelope, Max, Isabella, Oliver, and Amelia; dear daughter of the late Ida and the late Ozzie Dickler; cherished sister of the late Mildred Gaiber, Phillip (Gracie) Dickler, Marshall (Barbara) Dickler, and Neil (Josee) Dickler. Service Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. CT, at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 Block N. of Lake Cook Rd.). The service will be livestreamed on Shirley's webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Westlawn Cemetery.
