Barbara Ann Gelfeld (née Neumann), beloved wife of over 55 years to Mark Gelfeld, passed away at her home one day after her 79th birthday. She was the devoted daughter of the late Nettie and the late Werner Neumann, cherished mother of Adam (Leatte) Gelfeld and Dana (Jared) Hall, and the proud and adoring grandmother of Sammie and Jordan Gelfeld and Aaron and Zack Hall. Barbara was the loving sister of the late Howard Neumann and dear sister-in-law of Deedee (Steve) Hahn. Aunt of Lisa, Seth and Michael Neumann, and Chad Hahn and Kylie Hirko. Always putting others first, she was known for her selflessness, warmth, and boundless generosity. Barbara found her greatest joy in bringing people together. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of her legendary baked goods - she was, without question, the most wonderful baker. A devoted leader and volunteer, Barbara served as President of Congregation Beth Shalom, was an active member of ORT, and gave her time and heart as a volunteer at the Illinois Holocaust Museum. Her dedication to her community reflected her deep sense of compassion. Service Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Congregation Beth Shalom, 3433 Walters Ave, Northbrook, IL 60062. Interment Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge. The service will be livestreamed on Barbara's webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Congregation Beth Shalom, www.bethshalomnb.org, or the Illinois Holocaust Museum, www.ilholocaustmuseum.org.
