Lorraine P. Seaberg age 88 of Detroit Lakes, MN died June 5, 2024, at Essentia Health – Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Lorraine Phyllis Seaberg was born December 20, 1935, in Perham, MN to Marvin and Emma (Engel) Gulseth. She lived and attended Country School near Frazee, MN. At the age of nine her family moved to a farm near Callaway, MN, where she attended Country School. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1953. Following high school, she worked at the Co-Op Creamery in Detroit Lakes, the Becker County Assessor’s Office, and the ASCS Office. On March 15, 1958, Lorraine was united in marriage to Val Seaberg at Richwood Lutheran Church. They made their home and raised their family in Hamden Township. Lorraine worked for Harold Carlson Texaco in Detroit Lakes, and later she and her husband Val owned and operated the Seaberg Oil Company in Detroit Lakes from 1969-2020.
Lorraine enjoyed fishing and gardening. She was a member of the Lakes Area Garden Club. She was a former 4-H leader. Her faith was very important to her. She was the financial secretary for Richwood Lutheran Church for years, and also served as a Sunday School teacher. She also served on a Member’s Board for Lutheran Brotherhood. Family was a big part of Lorraine’s life. She was always very supportive of her children and their activities.
She is survived by her husband, Val; one daughter, Nancy (Don) Edwards, of Detroit Lakes; Russell (Catherine) Seaberg, of Detroit Lakes; and Lowell (Mary) Seaberg, of Detroit Lakes; two grandchildren, Tom Seaberg and Nicole Abrahamson; seven step grandchildren, Tarisa Bloom, Nick Bloom, Ashley Edwards, Danielle Dickey, D.J. Edwards, Danielle Lundberg, and Logan Kranstover; one great granddaughter, Allie Abrahamson; twelve step great grandchildren; one sister, Linda (Neil) Britton, of Preston, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kent Seaberg; two brothers, Herbert Gulseth and Kenneth Gulseth; and her parents.
