Lorraine Zangerle, 62, died peacefully, Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30, Monday, September 22, 2025, at the St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton where friends may call from 9 until 11:00 at the church. Interment will be in the Hopkinton Cemetery with full Military Honors. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has taken Lorraine and her family into their care. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha.

Surviving are her siblings, Charles (Paula), Mary Zangerle, William, Edward, David (Jana), her nieces and nephews, Cedar, Cyrus, Jack, Katie, Caan, Justin, Brad, Jennifer, Shanna, Greg, a special cousin, Carrie. She was preceded by her parents, and grandparents, Clarence and Bernadette Smith, Frank and Ellen Zangerle.

Lorraine Marie Zangerle was born August 2, 1963, at Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Maxine Smith, Zangerle. Lorraine graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Community schools, in 1981. She then enlisted in the United States Air Force where she served until, she retired September 30, 2004. Lorraine continued working in government service working for the Government Services Team at NATO where she was a Protocol Officer.

Lorraine was active in sports in high school, participating in track, basketball and softball. She enjoyed riding horses. Lorraine traveled the world experiencing many cultures and cuisines. Her favorite destination was coming back home every summer to see family and friends.
