On January 6, 2024, Heaven gained a wild, vibrant one! Our baby sister, Martha Lorrie Colquitt Hammes, 48, of Lavonia, loved Jesus, family, trucks, Hank Williams, Jr., hats - cowboy and baseball, motorcycles, horses, and the beach. She had a passion for being outdoors and loved exploring the country around her. She was fiercely independent and tremendously loved.
Lorrie was born and raised in Winterville, GA and was the daughter of the late Billy and Connie Colquitt. She graduated from Prince Avenue Christian School and later served in the United States Air Force. Lorrie was a hard worker, starting work at the age of 15, working consistently up until her final days due to her illness with cancer. She loved deeply and served others as a "domestic goddess" and caregiver of the elderly in her neighborhood.
Survivors include her beloved fiancé, Sean Daley; fur babies, Tybee and Gaucho; sister, Cathy (Zeb) Guest of Crawford; brothers, Bill (Kim) Colquitt of Carrollton, Joey (Wanda) Colquitt of Crawford, Burt (Suzanne) Colquitt of Nicholson; nieces and nephews, Hannah (Stuart), Colton (Heather), Jacob (Star), Gage, Loren (Todd), Sara (Tom), Kaly, Matthew, Kristen, Charli Jo, Kendyl; great nieces and nephews, Eliza, Ellie, Rafael, Miles, and Viviana. We are all going to miss her free spirit! Fly high, baby sister, until we meet again!
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Lorrie may be made to Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter online at https://www.moaspets.com/donate or to Winterville First Baptist Church Food Pantry online at https://www.wintervillefbc.org/online-giving or to 305 N. Church Street Winterville, GA 30683.
