Lorrie Munroe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cranston Family Funeral Home - Irish Ridge Cremation - Fairfield on Mar. 6, 2026.
Lorrie Ann Munroe 64, of Douds, IA and formerly of Canada passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Van Buren County Hospital. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place with no services planned at this time. Friends may leave online condolences at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.

Lorrie was born on January 21, 1962, in East York, Ontario, Canada, was a beacon of love and kindness. She illuminated the lives of those she touched with her compassion, thoughtfulness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. "The best portion of a good person's life is their little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love," William Wordsworth wrote, and Lorrie embodied this sentiment beautifully. Her family was her world, her grandchildren the stars around which she orbited. She was a child advocate by profession, but Lorrie's advocacy extended far beyond the walls of the Children's Aid office. It was a vocation that allowed her to express her deep-rooted love for humanity and her innate sense of justice.

Lorrie's life in Douds, Iowa, was filled with joy, warmth, and the aroma of freshly baked pastries. Her hobbies of baking and crafting were extensions of her loving nature, creating tangible tokens of her affection that will linger in the hearts of her loved ones.

Lorrie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kevin Munroe, and her parents, Leo and Miriam Dorgan. To paraphrase Emily Dickinson, Lorrie's life was a rare jewel, with facets that reflected the love and warmth she had for all around her.

Left to share her story are her two daughters, Megan (D.A.)Carter and Jaime (Samuel) Allen; seven grandchildren, Kavin, Kazin, and Kinley Carter and Alaina, Cameron, Dylan, and Connor Allen; a brother, Terry Dorgan; three sisters, Kelly Dorgan-Noyes, Melissa Dorgan, and Rebecca Dorgan, as well as many extended family and friends.

Lorrie's legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing her. We invite those who have been touched by Lorrie's life to share their memories and photographs on the memorial page, to celebrate the remarkable woman who so profoundly affected our lives. Her spirit will continue to live on in the stories we share and the memories we cherish.
