Lota Hall Brown, beloved wife, mother, Nanny, friend, and neighbor, passed at age 89 surrounded by family. She joins her late husband, William A. Brown, & children Jeffrey, Sheila, & Beverly in eternal rest. She is mourned by her daughter Pamela (Ezell), grandchildren Beverly, Jeremiah, Robert (Martin), Jennifer, Justin, David, and Alicia (Davone), many great-grandchildren, cousins & extended family. They all miss her contagious laughter & smile.
Mrs. Brown was raised in Boston MA by loving parents William & Lula Hall as the youngest of 7 children. After high school, she was among the first black women hired at John Hancock Insurance Company. Upon moving to Pittsburgh PA in the 1960s to Beltzhoover neighborhood, she held the same honor at Gimbel’s Department Store. She cherished her Jehovah’s Witness faith & was active in her local Seniors club.
Celebration of life held Tuesday, Jan 9th, 10 am- 11 am WM. SLATER & SONS INC. (412-381-3345) 301 Virginia Ave., Mt. Washington 15211 where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 12:30 pm. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pittsburgh 2835 E. Carson St. Suite 200, Pgh, PA 15203.
