Lou Harmon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ozark Funeral Homes - Anderson on Sep. 12, 2024.
Lloyd Louis Harmon, affectionately known as Lou, 81, of Anderson, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He was born on February 28, 1943, in Bentonville, Arkansas, the third of four children born to the late Staten Louis and Wanda Thelma (Stephens) Harmon.
Raised in Anderson, Missouri, Lou was a 1961 graduate of Anderson High School. He furthered his education at Crowder College, where he earned an associate's degree. Lou's commitment to his country shone brightly as he served in the United States Navy as a Russian Linguist. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to his roots in Missouri, where he embarked on a life filled with service, love, and laughter.
On December 27, 1973, Lou married the love of his life, Mary Anne Parnell. Their union was blessed with two children, Stan and Carrie Anne. His career was as diverse as it was impactful, including roles as a McDonald County Deputy Sheriff, Realtor, and McDonald County Clerk for two terms. Lou's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own the T-Shirt Corner, operate the McDonald County License Bureau, and establish Harmon Appraisals. Even in his later years, he continued to serve his community by driving a school bus for the McDonald County School District.
Lou's zest for life extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was an avid day trader, always keen on the latest market trends. His passion for politics was evident as he enjoyed watching Trump Rallies and Fox News. Visiting area casinos was another one of his favorite pastimes. However, it was his role as a grandfather that brought him the greatest joy. Lou cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to be involved in their activities. As we bid farewell to Lou, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with purpose, love, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary Anne Harmon of the home; his two children, Stan Harmon and wife, Mandy, and Carrie Anne Milleson and husband, Roy. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren, Ashton Hobbs and husband, Cody, Drew Harmon and wife, Cameron, Jake Milleson and wife, Cassie, Mollie Grace Milleson, and Pierce Harmon; and his two great-grandchildren, Harper and Parker Hobbs. Lou also leaves behind his brothers, Joe Harmon and wife, Brenda, and Bill Harmon and wife, Marie, as well as a host of other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Lou was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Bird.
Funeral services are 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2024 at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri with Jamey Cope and George Haag officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
