Louella Jean Spivey "Tut" Jackson Rodwell, born on October 8, 1939, in Picayune, MS, departed this life on June 28, 2025, in Mobile, AL. A dedicated and compassionate soul, Louella devoted her career to serving others as a nursing assistant at the Biloxi VA, where she touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness.
She achieved her General Educational Development (GED) through the STAR Program, exemplifying her commitment to personal growth and education. Throughout her life, Louella embraced various interests, finding joy in puzzles, playing cards, traveling—especially cruising—singing in the Chancel Choir, and watching birds grace her yard as they fed from her birdfeeders.
Louella is survived by her loving children, Rose Marie Jackson, Paula A. Jackson Parks (Ernest), Wesley Carter Jackson Jr (Deborah), Tammie Lee Hopson (Jeffrey), Tila J. Seymour (Jerome), and Derrick Charles Jackson; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her siblings, Dolores K. "Deedy" Spivey Woods, Kay Frances Spivey, Carol Ann Spivey Anderson, and Roy Spivey; as well as her beloved fur baby, her cat, Rain.
Louella was preceded in death by her parents, James Elmer Spivey Sr. and Phyllis Mae Avery Spivey Murray; her spouse, Christopher Rodwell; and her children, Juan Anthony Jackson and Oneida Michel Jackson Landrum. Additionally, she was preceded by siblings, James Elmer "Sonny" Spivey Jr. and Rooney Spivey.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life service will be held on July 5, 2025, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS, commencing at 12:00 PM. The repast will take place at St. Paul United Methodist Church, located at 696 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Biloxi. Interment will be held at a later date at Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to a memorial fund in her name.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the ER and ICU Burn Unit at the University of South Alabama, SAAD Hospice, and the dedicated staff, nurses, chaplains, and social workers at "The Retreat" in Mobile for their exceptional care for Louella.
Louella Jean Spivey "Tut" Jackson Rodwell will be remembered for her loving spirit, her generous heart, and her unwavering commitment to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a profound impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
