"Louis G. Amato, known affectionately to friends and family as Lou, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Manchester, NJ. Born on July 25, 1946, in Bayonne, Lou's life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his loved ones, his work, and his community.

He is survived by his wife Carol, two sons, Louis and Michael, three grandchildren, Victoria, Michael, and Olivia, and two great grandchildren, Brynlee and Mila.

He attended local schools in Jersey City and went on to further his education with college courses that helped pave the way for his future endeavors. Lou's professional journey was characterized by his dedicated service as a Shop-at-Large General Manager for UAW Local 595. His leadership and advocacy for workers' rights earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and those within the labor movement.

Outside of his professional life, Lou was deeply passionate about motorcycles. The sense of freedom and adventure he found while riding was a source of great joy and provided a balance to his industrious work life. His love for motorcycles was only matched by his love for visiting family and friends & traveling with his wife Carol. Lou had a natural gift for making those around him feel valued and loved, and his presence was a comfort to all who knew him.

Lou's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Carol Amato, with whom he shared a life full of love and partnership. Together, they navigated the journey of life, supporting each other through every challenge and celebrating every triumph. His unwavering devotion to Carol was evident to all, and their bond was a testament to the power of enduring love.

As we reflect on Lou's life, we are reminded of the impact one individual can have on the lives of many. His kindness, integrity, and the sincerity with which he approached every interaction left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. Lou's absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of his warmth, laughter, and the wisdom he shared will continue to inspire and comfort us.

As we say farewell to Louis G. Amato, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and passion. He was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to guide us. Lou's journey on earth may have come to an end, but the love he shared and the lives he touched will endure forever.

Services for Louis will be held at Silverton Funeral Home in Silverton, New Jersey, on Thursday 10/2, from 3pm to 7pm. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery on Friday, 10/3 at 11am."

Knowing Lou was a privilege to those of us lucky to be his friend. His kindness, wisdom and calmness will be missed by us all. His laughter made all around him laugh. His love for Carol was known by all of us, and we joked "how do you put up with him"? lol My memories of riding with him and tips he gave me and others are priceless. I'll think of you with fondness. Rest easy my buddy, and keep riding!

My heart aches at the passing of my good friend Louie aka Louie the wrench. I cherish our talks, our lunches together and the motorcycle trips we took. But my biggest ache will be those lunches at Caffrey´s for the cheesesteak wraps they will never be the same. Lou was a walking book of knowledge of Harley Davidson, he was my mentor and taught me so much I still use today. You will be forevever remembered and never forgotten.
Louie leaves this world to ride the never ending highways and twisties where it never rains and the roads are perfect and to probably fix a few bikes while he´s up there.
Forever in the wind my good friend till we ride together again.
