Louis S. Balogh, age 71, of Algonac, passed away June 1, 2024 at home surrounded by his family after a long hard fought battle with ALS. He was born July 5, 1952 in Pennsylvania to the late John and Elizabeth Balogh.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering. Lou then went on to have a very successful career with General Motors and retired after 30 years of service.
Lou had a passion for hunting and fishing as well as anything outdoors for that matter. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play horseshoes and cornhole. In his later years the simple things in life such as tending to his garden and bird watching was how he liked to spend his days. Lou also had a passion for listening to good music and sharing that with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter; Patrice Balogh (Rob Rizzo), his grandson; Branden Balogh (Moriah Craft) along with Lillian Craft. He is also survived by many cherished close friends.
He was preceded in death by his longtime partner; Trish Hlavac, his son; Ernie Balogh and brother; John Balogh.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15 at Young Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Visiting hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
