Louis F. Basso

Louis F. Basso passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 at his home. He was 97. Louis lived a full and loving life, leaving behind an enduring legacy of family, faith, and kindness.
Born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Louis later moved to Cedar Knolls, where he and his wife, Michelina lovingly raised their family. He also lived in Rockaway for 14 years before settling in Mt. Arlington 3 ½ years ago.
Louis worked for many years as a high-low operator for ACME in Kearny, NJ, before retiring. He had a lifelong love of baseball and was a huge Brooklyn Dodgers fan until they moved to Los Angeles. Afterward, he became a devoted Mets fan. Louis also loved music, and for years, Saturday nights were dedicated to his favorite singer, Frank Sinatra, and the sounds of Big Bands. Most importantly, he cherished spending time with his beautiful wife, Michelina. They loved going to Atlantic City, taking vacations together, or simply staying home and watching TV.
A dedicated member of Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church in Cedar Knolls, Louis was deeply committed to his faith and community.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Michelina, who passed away on April 13, 2003.
Survivors include his devoted children: Gemma Coulson and her husband, Michael; Russell Basso and his girlfriend, Laura; and Angelica Lautenberg and her husband, Peter. He was the proud grandfather of his two grandsons, Sean Michael and Benjamin Louis. He was also survived by his dear nieces and nephews.
Louis' kind spirit and warmth will be missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, dedication to family, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visiting Hours are on Friday, March 28th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Par-Troy Funeral Home, Parsippany NJ 07054.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered on March 29th 9:30 a.m. at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. 75 Ridgedale Avenue, Cedar Knolls NJ 087927. Interment: Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ 07936.
