Louis Conrad Doebbler 84 of Giddings, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Silver Pines Nursing Home in Bastrop. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Rev. John Schimdt officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 276. A visitation will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with the family present for 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A private spreading of ashes will follow at a later date.
Louis was born on May 25, 1939 to Walter and Viola (Weirich) Doebbler. Louis was baptized on March 1, 1942 and confirmed on March 29, 1953 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg by Rev. G.A. Poehlmann. His confirmation verse was Psalms 37:5 "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.". He was raised in Fredericksburg and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1958. Louis worked as an electrician and owned Doebbler Electric which he ran for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Lions Club in South Houston and led the leader program. Louis was active in the American Legion post 276 and Grape Town Rifle Club Schuetzen Verin. Louis served in the military and White House Communications from 1961 to December of 1966.
Louis enjoyed hunting and fishing on his ranch in Fredericksburg. He liked to play dominoes, 42, and Skat. Louis enjoyed being a world traveler and going dancing with Bernice. Louis loved farming and ranching in Lee and Gillespie Counties.
Louis is survived by his wife Bernice and his estranged daughter Melissa. Two stepsons, Arland and Sharon Weise and Carey Marc and Terasa Weise of Houston, one sister Marion Klein. Step grandchildren Mathew and Amada Weise, Mitchell Weise and girlfriend Lauri Bertsch, Mariah and Caleb Shaw, Amanda and Ken Leslie and Randall Weise. Step great grandchildren, Matt Ryan Weise Jr., Carie Beth Weise, Scarlett Shaw, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother Ronald and Lorraine, and sister Florence and Palmer Hohenberger, Elain and Harry Werner, Charlotte and Clinton Dieke.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Wendish Museum or the charity of one's choice.
