LOUIS JOHN EGYUD, JR., 89, of Weirton, WV, formerly of Robinson Township, PA, passed away peacefully at Valley Hospice on February 27, 2024 with his wife Vickie at
his side.
Lou" was born to Louis and Sophie Egyud, the eldest of three children, on August 26,1934 in Aliquippa, PA. After graduating high school, Lou served our country
in the United States Air Force. When Lou's military commitment ended with an honorable discharge, he came home to attend the University of Pittsburgh in which he
earned a Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962. After graduating from Pitt, Lou began a lifelong career at PPG Industries in Pittsburgh, PA serving as a Chief
Electrical Engineer for decades until his retirement. Lou was an avid fan of Pitt basketball and football. Lou loved Steelers football and Pirates baseball. Lou was known
for his love of politics and his attention to detail.
Lou held many roles in his life, but his favorite role was being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He married the love of his life Vickie 42 years ago
and they have shared a beautiful journey together filled with life, love, and laughter. He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and family. He was always there
for his children, teaching life lessons, coaching little league teams, and cheering not only from the sidelines at football, basketball and baseball games, but cheering for their
success in life. Lou was a practicing catholic and instilled faith in his family.
Lou is survived by his wife Vickie and their three sons, Timothy (Amber) Egyud, David Egyud, James (Elizabeth) Egyud. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Sylvia)
Egyud and sister Frannie (Jerry) Angelo. Lou was predeceased by his parents Louis and Sophie. Lou's legacy is also carried on by his adored grandchildren: Ashley (Heather Chatary), Joshua (Erin) Egyud, Ryan (Emily) Egyud, Julianna (Jonathan) Cox, and Hadley Egyud. Each of them will remember "Gramps" for his love and dedication to them. Whether he was teaching them to do math, fish, camp, going on family vacations or cheering from the sidelines at their games, plays, and horse shows, his love for them was pure and unconditional. Gramps will be sadly missed by his great grandchildren Rylee and Rayna Egyud, Porter and Noah Egyud, Carter Egyud and Charlotte Cox.
Lou may have left us but the seeds he planted in the hearts of his family and friends will continue to grow for generations to come.
The family will honor and celebrate Lou's life on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Visitors will be received from 11:00 AM until time of Catholic service at 1:00 PM at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, with Father Bill Schwartz presiding. There will be a private burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with military honors rendered by United States Air Force and VFW Post No. 1810 Honor Guards.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 OH-150, Rayland, OH 43943.
