Louis was born September 26, 1955 in Red Lake, MN, the son of Aaron and Thern (Donnell) Hegstrom. He graduated from Red Lake High School. He was a police officer in Red Lake starting in 1984 and retired in 2000 due to illness. He enjoyed watching sports, being in nature, and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Hegstrom, mother, Thern Hegstrom, children, Louis Hegstrom, Jr., Elizabeth Hegstrom, Lorene Lyons, and Darcel Lyons, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and brother, Charles Hegstrom.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aaron, and brothers, Ronald, Michael, and Bruce, and grandsons, Ryan and Richard.
