Answering and Fulfilling the Call
Bishop Louis Hills accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ, as his personal Savior in 1973 under the leadership of Bishop E.K. Owens. He was taught by Pastor Louise Stewart and instructed by his leader and friend, Bishop O. Harden. Bishop L. Hills was mentored by Bishop O. Foxworth. They ran revivals together, traveling to Elizabeth, NJ, to fellowship with Gods people. He joined Athens First Christ Holiness Church, where State Mother Rachel B. Hills was a member. They served faithfully together for many years until God instructed him to move and build him a house. During his time at Athens, he held various positions, including Deacon, Minister, and Elder.
Bishop Louis Hills became foreman of APAC of GA with a third-grade education. He served as foreman of fourteen men until he retired in June of 1996. Following Gods instruction to build a church, he went and built a church on the railroad bed in Bulloch County. After some time, the Lord came to him and told him to leave this location and build another church.
In 1981, Bishop and State Mother Rachel Hills began building a church on Woodyard Road. APAC generously donated cement. After blocking up the church and before completing it, they began having services in the church. The church at the time was called Gods Little Mission. After twenty-three years, in 2004, the churchs name was changed to Gods Greater Mission.
Through his determination to learn to read, he began taking night classes while working full-time. He wanted a better understanding of the word and things of God. He attended the Bryant Theological Seminary Convention of Georgia. He was blessed with free tuition at Mustard Seed Bible Institute of Savannah, GA. He found a tutor who, in exchange for teaching him to read, he would teach her the word of God.
Bishop Louis Hills had a tremendous passion for Gods word, coupled with the love of Gods people. Having received his mandate from God, in 1981 Bishop Louis Hills reverently fulfilled his calling as Founder and Overseer of Gods Greater Mission. Under Gods guidance, he preached many sermons, and countless people have been saved, healed, and set free. He was a man full of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
His motto will remain: Grant me wisdom, knowledge, and the ability to understand. His scripture, John 9:4: I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work. We will always hear you say, "I love ya."
I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. John 9:4
