Louis Hubshman Obituary

Louis David "Lou" Hubshman, 87, passed away on July 19, 2025, in Frederick, Maryland. Born on October 23, 1937, in Passaic, New Jersey, Lou lived a full and creative life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a lifelong passion for the arts.

Lou graduated from Northwestern High School and went on to study at both the Corcoran and MICA art schools, where he honed his talents as a graphic artist. His artistic pursuits extended far beyond the classroom-he was an accomplished cartoonist, photographer, and videographer whose work reflected his keen eye for detail and deep appreciation for storytelling in all its forms.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Lou served his country with honor before returning to civilian life to build a career that blended creativity with humor. Known for his quick wit and boundless imagination, he was a natural storyteller and jokester who could light up any room with laughter.

Lou shared 68 wonderful years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Carol. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love and commitment. Together they raised three daughters: Diane Ochalek, Sandra Hubshman, and Linda Hubshman. Lou also took great joy in being a grandfather to Nicholas and Aidan Ochalek.

His legacy lives on through the countless memories he created with those who knew him-through stories told around the dinner table, photographs capturing moments big and small, and cartoons that brought smiles to many faces.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire creativity and laughter for generations to come. Louis Hubshman
