Louis James Riedl Jr, formerly of Albuquerque, NM and Worcester, MA passed on Feb 1, 2024 at his home with his daughters family in Buffalo, MO.
Louis was born July 26th, 1938 in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Louis J. Riedl Sr. and Julia H Harris Riedl. Louis left high School at 17 to join the United Sates Air Force. He served over 33 years and attained the highest rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was fondly called by many as "The Chief" even after retirement. His focus in ammunitions, specifically, the 463 career field, had many private sector organizations interested in his unique skill set.
Retiring the first time at only 50 years of age he began working with Los Alamos Technical Associates in Albuquerque, NM. He worked 15 years for this organization and was much sought after as their Senior Nuclear Systems Weapons Engineer. He loved working and attempted to retire a 2nd time.
His 3rd career choice He entered into business with his sons in 2005 and opened Anasazi Leather Furniture. He actively worked in the store another 12 years successfully helping grow their furniture enterprise. One of his famous selling points; "Made in Chino, CA not CHINA". He was so very proud of his eldest son Jim's accomplishments and the backing of this new endeavor along with his youngest son Lances' gumption to open his own store.
Louis really loved working and after retirement from the furniture arena, he moved to Buffalo, MO to his youngest daughter Penelope's farm and ranch. He wasted no time jumping right in and wrangling cattle when needed. His love of the farm gave him peace and happiness with which he lived out his life.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 53 years, Joyce M Lambert Riedl, his son, Lance J Riedl, his parents and his sister Louise Franco. He is survived by his brother Donald F Riedl and his wife Jan of Brewster, MA, his son Louis J Riedl III and his partner Carrie Cervantes of Corona, CA, daughters; Terri Riedl-Waychoff and her husband Patrick of Colorado Springs, CO and his now youngest, Penelope A, Riedl of Buffalo, MO, He had nine grandchildren; Kristian Waychoff and wife Madeline, David Waychoff and wife Michelle, Katrina Waychoff, Michael Riedl, April Riedl, Zackary Riedl, Troy Riedl and wife Jessica, Travis Riedl, Savanna Riedl and her husband, Michael Ward.
He also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many cousins,
nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

I will miss you always, Dad. You provided me a wonderful example of how a man takes care of his family. Your work ethic, your friendships made over the years. My hero then and now.
