"It is more blessed to give than to receive." Acts 20:35
Louis "Phil" Keating passed away December 15, 2024, at the age of 94. He was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where his talents took him to his career and love, carpentry. He spent years showing his skills as a cabinet maker while working for the government at the Halifax Dockyards. He worked there until 1965 when he and his family moved to the Boston area; he continued to be a tremendous master craftsman and cabinet maker for Polaroid in their trades department for 25 years.
Phil truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. His generosity knew no bounds and showed through his strong faith helping others and through his church as an usher, assistant and Eucharistic Minister. He not only assisted at services in his church, St. John Chrysostom, he also visited nursing facilities, bringing the host to those that were medically limited.
Phil was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather and a beautiful soul who would help anyone. His calm and gentlemanly personality made him approachable in any environment and a calming influence throughout his life.
He enjoyed working with wood throughout his life as his skills weren't limited to any specific area of that genre. He lived life to the fullest and especially loved spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved church family.
Although Phil is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
He is survived by his sons Darrell and Kevin Keating, Darrell's wife Linda, grandchildren Jonathan Keating, Christopher Keating, Kimberly Miller, Kerryanne Bamrick and Julie Wilder and all their families; he had 6 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Mary Osborne and her family of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia and has over 70 nieces and nephews, mostly in Canada with some in the U.S.
Preceded in death by his wife Cora Keating, partner Mary King, brothers Walter Keating and David Keating.

Linda and Darrell, we are thinking of you at this time. Your father will always be remembered as a strong and memorable influence in your family story. He is a connection to your Canadian heritage.
He will always be there in your heart. A parent´s love never goes away. He is looking down with your mother and watching over you. Love, Charlene and Ted

Ages ago my grandparents lived directly across from the Keating´s on Superior Street in Lynn. They were wonderful neighbors always, in good times and hard times. We have never forgotten them. May this good man rest well in God´s loving presence. With thanks.

Uncle Philly was a very talented, generous uncle. He was a true gentleman. We always enjoyed his visits and as young girls he built us furniture for our dolls. He was always smiling and happy with a twinkle in his eye. Uncle Phil will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Sharon (Keating) Gillis and family.

With a heavy heart I say goodbye to my father- in law, He will be deeply missed, I will always remember Phil for his positive qualities and the sense of humor he always gave me. I remember one time he went into the hot tub with me and on the telephone later he told someone that i was trying to cook him, we laughed and laughed so much after that call. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Till we meet again. Rest in peace
