Louis "Lou" Neck, 78, of Louisburg, Kansas, departed this life on October 24, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Lou was born on October 27, 1946, in Marksville, Louisiana, where he grew up and attended school as a child.
Lou's professional journey led him to a successful career as an electrician, with significant contributions to South Kansas City Electric, Wachter Electric, and Sell Electric, beginning when he moved to Kansas City in 1981. Prior to that, he had ventured to California while working with U-Haul, before returning to Louisiana. He dedicated most of his life to the electrical trade and retired in the early 2000s.
Beyond his professional achievements, Lou was known for his warm personality and love for storytelling. He was an avid reader, particularly enjoying western and history genres, often visiting the library each week to check out new books. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for fishing, hunting, and birdwatching; however, his greatest joy came from spending precious time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In a ceremony of love and commitment, Lou married Nancy Neck on November 29, 1982, in Oklahoma. Together, they built a beautiful family that includes their children Angela (Damon) Wolf, Mike (Tammy) Chitwood, Donna (John Gendall) Neck, Marc (Claire) Chitwood, and Aaron (Kenda Johnson) Chitwood. Lou's legacy continues through his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Bass, Margaret Selders, Veronica (Johnny) Runnels, Paula (Doug) Orillion, and Jerry (Paula) Neck. He was preceded in death by his parents, Achilles and Denise Neck.
Lou's legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered for the countless stories, laughter, and love he brought into their lives.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Louisburg First Baptist Church, 406 S Vine Street, Louisburg, Kansas 66053. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 4, 2025, also at the church. Private family burial will be held at the Louisburg Cemetery.
