Louis Oblinger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home - Osceola on Jan. 4, 2024.
Louis Harvey Oblinger, Sr.
January 14, 1935 – December 31, 2023
Louis Oblinger 88, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on December 31, 2023. He is survived by a son Louis (Donna) Oblinger Jr. and Tammy Oblinger, 8 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Vern & Irene (Michaud) Oblinger, wife JoAn (Ferguson) Oblinger and a daughter Debbie Oblinger, two brothers, Father Joe Oblinger and Lawrence "Buster" Oblinger and a sister Mable Kaney.
Louis was born and raised in Missoula, then moved to Jackson Michigan, then to Lafayette Indiana. He was an amazing chef and loved to cook any chance he had. He was very interested in living a "healthy" life by eating well, and exercising, especially walking. He was an avid Notre Dame fan and liked football, the ladies and men's basketball teams. He liked Gonzaga, Duke, and Indiana Basketball as well and living in Lafayette, he also fell in love with Purdue. He also liked to walk on the Notre Dame campus. He had a passion for the Kentucky Derby and watching it with his wife. He treasured gardening and square dancing. He also loved golf, keeping a club in his truck, just in case. Above all he was an excellent provider for his family and he looked forward to them coming over to visit and cooking for them.
Visitation for Louis will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2023 from 12:00pm (noon) to 1:00pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 1:00pm following visitation.

Lou was always smiling , I´ll always remember that about him , we loved to tease each other about ND ( I´m a Mich fan) but we sure bonded over our Cubs ... he was a gentle soul and were really gonna miss him
