Louis Rizzolo Obituary
Lou began his teaching career at Stanhope Elementary School which is part of the Stanhope School District in Stanhope, New Jersey. In 1968 he, his wife Janet and their son James relocated from Newton, NJ to Port Salerno, FL. Their second son, Christopher, was born in 1970, shortly after the family moved to North River Shores north of Stuart.
Lou dedicated his professional life to education. He taught at Port Salerno Elementary School, served as a guidance counselor at Murray 9th, and held administrative roles as Principal of Indiantown Middle School and Assistant Principal at Jensen Beach Elementary School. After retiring from the school system in 1988, he continued serving the community at the Job Training Center in St. Lucie County until his second retirement in 2005.
Lou was active with the Jensen Beach Optimist Club in the 1970's and was a devoted member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Jensen Beach. He enjoyed traveling, coin collecting, playing canasta, attending theater, cruising, watching football and soccer, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Lou was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Janet, whom he met on a blind date in 1957 and married in 1959, and by his brother Ralph Rizzolo. Lou is survived by son James of Stuart, FL, son Christopher, wife Sandra, and granddaughter Natalie Teresa of Orlando, FL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Lou will be deeply missed but his spirit and memories he created will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
