Louis Robert Rodriguez, 86, died peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, accompanied by loved ones at his home in Newton, Kansas. He was born June 21, 1939, in Dodge City, Kansas to Samuel Eusebio ‘Sammy’ Rodriguez and Anita (Sandoval) Rodriguez. On April 8, 1961, Louis married Lydia Ruth (Terrones) Rodriguez who preceded him in death on October 19, 1963. Louis married Margarita Martinez (Ramos) Rodriguez on November 14, 1964, and to Juani M. (Ramos) Rodriguez on August 28, 1987. Louis attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton.

As a 3rd generation railroader, Louis retired from the AT&SF Railroad in 2001 and had also served 10 years as General Chairman for the Brotherhood of Fireman & Oilers. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since eighteen years of age, and was an avid sports fan, having played volleyball and softball, and taken part in dozens of tailgates at Kansas City Chiefs home games.

He is survived by his spouse Juani and his four sons, Gregory Louis, Mark Anthony, Alexander Simon, and Louis Ernest Rodriguez, and a daughter Adriana (Ramos) Fernandez; and his sister Martha (Rodriguez) Olivarez. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents, prior spouses Lydia, Margarita; and sister Rose (Rodriguez) Briseño and brothers Sam Jr., John Albert, and David John Rodriguez.

Funeral Mass will be Friday, July 11, 2025 10:30am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton, with The Reverend Adam Keiter presiding, celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is set for Thursday, July 10 from 5pm – 9pm at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, in Newton, Kansas and the Rosary will be conducted during this period at 7:30pm.

Memorials are requested to be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and may be left with the funeral home.
