Louis Sanchez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castle Ridge Mortuary - West Military Dr. on Feb. 21, 2026.
We gather here today to honor and celebrate the life of Louis Lorenzo "Butch" Sanchez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who was called home by our Heavenly Father on February 17, 2026. Born on June 25, 1951, in East Chicago, Indiana, Butch was a beacon of love and joy to all who knew him.

Butch's life was one marked by steadfast faith, devotion to his family, and service to his country. After bravely serving in the U.S. Army, he continued to embody the values of duty and honor in every aspect of his life. Butch's commitment to his Christian faith was evident through his active participation in his church's praise and worship team, where he lifted the spirits of many with his musical talents on the guitar, bass guitar, and drums.

Butch's journey on this earth concluded peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, due to natural causes. He leaves behind a legacy of love, embodied by his cherished wife, Merce (nee Castro) Sanchez, his daughters, Christina Nicole Sanchez and Linda Marie Sanchez, and his adored grandson, Nicolas Louis Sanchez. Butch now joins his son, Michael Louis Sanchez, in eternal rest.

The son of Merejildo (deceased) and Rafaela Sanchez, Butch was a loving brother to David, Stephen, and Regino Sanchez; his sisters, Isabel Sanchez, Rachel (Marcelino) Varela, Teresa (Karl) Cantu, Martha Sanchez; and sister-in-law Sylvia Garcia. He was preceded in death by his brother Albert Sanchez. His memory will be treasured by his numerous nephews and nieces, who will miss his loving kindness and infectious humor.

Butch's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness and compassion. His warm presence and ready smile were a source of comfort and laughter to all. He had a gift for making others feel loved and valued, a trait that endeared him to many hearts.

As we commemorate Butch's journey, we reflect on the words of Scripture, "Well done, good and faithful servant." His life was a portrait of what it means to walk in love and faith, to serve with humility, and to embrace each day with a joyful heart. Butch's unwavering love for his family, his passion for music, and his dedication to his faith will continue to resonate within the lives of those he touched.

In the stillness of our hearts, we hear the echoes of Butch's laughter and the strum of his guitar, reminding us that his spirit lives on in the melodies of heaven. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we find comfort in knowing that he is at peace in the arms of our Lord.

Louis Lorenzo "Butch" Sanchez's life was a beautiful symphony of love, laughter, and faith. His legacy will continue to inspire us to live with purpose and to cherish every moment with those we love. Today, we celebrate Butch's homecoming and the indelible mark he has left on our hearts. May we all aspire to embody the virtues that Butch lived by, and in doing so, keep his memory alive for generations to come.
