Louis Scampone, a long time resident of Eastchester, NY passed away peacefully on January 6th 2025 at the age of 85. He was born in the Bronx, NY and raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Millie & Silvio Busti, who loved him as their own. He was blessed to have them as parents.
Louis was the beloved husband of 60 years to Maria Scampone (predeceased), whom he married on July 9th, 1960 at St Philip & James Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx. He was a loving father to three sons; Louis (pre-deceased), Dean (Angela), and Christopher (Kim). Beloved grandfather to Gabriella, Giovanna, Daniella, Isabella, Dean Jr., Christopher Jr., and Danielle. Beloved brother to Dennis (pre-deceased), Andrew (pre-deceased) and Edward.
From very humble beginnings, as a youth in the Bronx delivering milk to running successful businesses that spanned over 4 decades, he was a true success story. Louis, along with his wife, founded Villaggio Italiano Restaurant (Villaggio's) in Hartsdale, NY in 1977. Together they operated the business for 39 years until their retirement. He was well respected by his colleagues, employees and customers. One of the hardest working people you could ever meet, his sense of humor, sense of fairness and mutual respect endeared him to everyone he met, both professionally and personally.
His family was his life and it was important to him that all were treated equally. He loved it when the grandchildren came to visit and they loved spending time with him. While enjoying dinner with the family was wonderful, it was usually dessert that he looked forward to the most. To say he had a sweet tooth would be an understatement. His mantra was "I never met a cake or cookie I didn't like". As big as his heart was he was also lighthearted and this is what his family and loved ones will miss greatly. He was truly cherished.
The family would like to thank the incredible caregivers who took loving care of Louis at home; Marina, Nina and Tammy.
The Family will receive friends and relatives at Westchester Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Main Street, Eastchester, NY on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4-8 pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 9:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Tuckahoe followed by an entombment at Ferncliff, Hartsdale.
