Louis B. Shackleton Jr.

Louis B. Shackleton, Jr. died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 6, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania. He was 82 years old. Louis was born in Abington, Pennsylvania on December 19, 1939 to Louis and Helen (Young) Shackleton. He was honored to have served in The United States Army as part of the Yukon Command and loved sharing stories about his duty in Alaska. Being a veteran was something that Lou proudly held very close to his heart and he was passionate about military history. He was a brilliantly skilled carpenter whose detailed expert craftsmanship is hard to duplicate. His tools were some of his prized possessions. Lou enjoyed classic cars and during his time living in Jacksonville, North Carolina he belonged to various show clubs. He had a lifelong love for Harley Davidson motorcycles and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all, Lou enjoyed spending time with his family and found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially a hot cup of coffee. Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Catherine and Helen, and his daughter, Michele. He is survived by his siblings, Mary and Ken, and his children, Louis, Kevin, Michael, Amber, and Amanda and their families, who will all miss him dearly. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his many friends. Lou will be laid to rest at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend the ceremony on May 18, 2022 beginning promptly at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lou's name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
