Louise D'Alessandro Obituary

Belchertown, MA - Louise Michelina D'Alessandro, 98, of Belchertown, MA, died on March 20, 2026, at Vantage Rehab in Hampden, MA. Born in Tarrytown, NY, on May 8, 1927, she was the daughter of Rafaela and Philomena (Zingaro) D'Alessandro. She grew up in North Tarrytown, now called Sleepy Hollow, NY.

She is predeceased by her son, Robert Galgano, and daughter, Lorraine Chouinard, as well as her sisters, Josephine Cole and Veronica Arnold.

She is survived by her children: Christine Galgano (Pam Wermuth), Donald Chouinard (Elaine), Jay Chouinard (Dan Parlin) and Michelle Chouinard, and her grandchildren: Vincent Galgano and his children, Ronan and Maeve , Lauren Chouinard (McCullen Drake-Murphy), Josh Chouinard, and Drew Chouinard. She is also survived by her twin brothers, Ralph and Nick D'Alessandro, both of Naples, FL.

Louise was an executive secretary and later a legal secretary for a private law firm in Salem, MA.

In retirement, Louise volunteered for many years at the Hospice Shop in Northampton and at the Senior Center in Amherst.

She moved to Amherst, MA, in 1997, and lived in Clark House until 2020 when she moved in with her daughter, Christine, in Belchertown.

Louise always spoke fondly of her teen years. She loved school and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was an avid bocce player, a lover of music, especially Andrea Boccelli, and a whiz at Wheel of Fortune. Louise was known for her cooking skills, which she loved to share at dinner parties with her friends. She was also a skilled seamstress which accentuated her keen sense of style.

Most importantly, Louise was a person who loved her immediate family, extended family, and friends with a passion. Anyone could come to her for help and she would be there for them.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, April 13th, at 10am at St. John Paul II Maronite Immaculate Conception Church in Sleepy Hollow, NY. After the mass there will be a graveside service in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery
