Louise DeVries Obituary
Louise was an incredible woman, a wonderful mother to four beautiful children, and a loving wife of 58 years to her childhood sweetheart, Rob. Their life together began as neighbors, and their journey led them from Texas, Kentucky, and Tennessee, then back home to Everson.
Louise had many passions in life.
Teaching piano for over 60 years and her love of the theatre and arts was a part of her creative and talented nature. Traveling with friends and family was another passion. Louise traveled all over the world and found joy in planning the itinerary for many trips with family and friends.
Louise was a devoted follower of Jesus. She served as a worship leader for many years and touched many lives with her praise for the Lord. Louise enjoyed entertaining and created a warm, welcoming environment regardless of the size of the gathering. She made each person in her life feel special. She dedicated her time to making incredible memories for her children and grandchildren, which will be treasured forever.
Louise will be deeply missed by her husband Robert DeVries; children Treva (Mike) Hammingh, Monae (Duaine) Birkhofer, Marissa (Tim) Cramer, Bryn (Sarah) DeVries; grandchildren Alanis (Caleb) Miller, Taya Hammingh, Austin (fiancé Kathryn Fehme) Birkhofer, Conner Birkhofer, Avrie (Noah) Paul, Jake Cramer, Shawn Cramer, Caleb DeVries, Kellen DeVries, Weston DeVries, and Paige DeVries; great-grandchildren to come in February 2026 and April 2026; sister Karen (Jerry) Schwantes; and her in-laws Jim & Beryl DeVries, Janet Holt, Chuck & Barb Tjoelker, Wayne & Barb DeVries, Mike & Karen Lindeen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 16th, at 1:00 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Lynden.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
