Louise "Weezie" Ervin July 19, 1940 November 16, 2025
Louise "Weezie" Ervin, 85 years young, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love that defined her beautiful life.
Born on July 19, 1940, Weezie was the cherished daughter of the late Clarence Hawkins Ervin and Edna Hellen Mann. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Mann Ervin; her dear sister, Mary Willson Chopin; her precious infant daughter, Dorothy Hellen Barineau, who was taken home to the Lord at ten months old after a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis.
Weezie is survived by her only daughter, Nancy Ervin Luketich (William), and her adored grandchildren, Sophie Luketich Rios and Jack Luketich. She also leaves behind a loving niece, Kim Ervin; nephews, James Mann Ervin, Jr., Christopher Ervin Chopin and the late Charles Cooper Chopin; as well as a host of extended family and lifelong friends who were truly family to her.
For thirty years, Weezie proudly served in multiple capacities at Ochsner Hospital in Jefferson, Louisiana, where she had the honor of working alongside one of the founders, Dr. Seymour Ochsner. In her middle years she gave her time and heart to the New Orleans Battered Women's Shelter. After retirement, she joyfully volunteered in the bookstore of her beloved Celebration Church.
Weezie's faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her Bible study groups, life groups, church family, and family were her greatest treasures. She was famous for baking her "God's Grace" cakes, always declaring with a smile that she prayed over every single one. There was never a stranger in Weezie's world-only friends she hadn't met yet. She had an extraordinary gift for seeing the heart of every person she encountered and loving them without reservation.
Weezie will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, yet her legacy of kindness, faith, and boundless love will live on forever in the hearts of her family, friends, and former coworkers.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Weezie's remarkable life on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Celebration Church, 2001 Airline Drive,
Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A reception of fellowship and remembrance will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Weezie's favorite charity, Praisin' Jesus Feeding Ministry, P.O. Box 1942,
Metairie, LA 70004 or go to praisingjesusfm.org.
And because this is exactly what Weezie would want: go grab the people you love, squeeze them tight, look them in the eye and say "I love you"-do it today, do it often, and do it with a Weezie-sized smile!
