Louise Hettinger of Owensboro passed away peacefully into the graceful arms of the Lord, in the presence of loved ones. She had an incredible love of animals and much compassion for her friends and neighbors. She never missed the opportunity to share her love of cooking by making a meal for a friend in need. She was also an incredible seamstress, creating many beautiful articles of clothing not only for family but for her friends and her pets. Her favorite pastime was dancing with her friends on Saturday nights. In fact, she was able to grace the dance floor as recently as last Saturday.
She loved all her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them at every possible occasion. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends, including her Chihuahua, Minnie. In 1965, she retired from General Electric. Early in her life, along with her husband, George, she was instrumental in the charter of Owensboro Christian Church. She was most recently a member of Women's Auxiliary for the VFW.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Valdez and husband, Jake Valdez, of Owensboro; a son, Doug Hettinger and wife, Gail, of Jasper, Ind.; a daughter-in-law, Jessie Hettinger of Whitesville; grandchildren, Greg (Rosalyn) Valdez of Dayton, Ohio, Pamela (Tom) Wascher of Appleton, Wis., George (Karie) Hettinger of Des Moines, Iowa, Paula (Wade) Russell of Fort Mitchell, Ala., and Shelby and Logan Hettinger of Jasper; great-grandchildren, Lex, Louie, Lucy and Leo Valdez, Zoe Hettinger and Jacy Russell; a sister, Margaret Dibolt of Elgin, Ill.; and her friend and companion, Paul Kinison of Owensboro.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Chapel, with entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A celebration of her life will be held immediately after the funeral at VFW on Veterans Boulevard in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Daviess County Humane Society, 3101 W. Second St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
