Louise Markham, age 79, of Mountain City, TN, passed away Tuesday evening September 12, 2023 at the Johnson County Community Hospital. Louise was born September 20, 1943 in West Virginia to the late Oddis Dugger and Parlea Greenwell Dugger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Billy Ray Markham (2018) and several sisters and brothers.
Louise loved her grandkids and great grandkids. They had a special bond of sharing their chicken nuggets with each other and she loved arguing with her great granddaughter, Lily and giving her granddaughter Angel a hard time while she worked at the nursing home. She was also a big Elvis Presley fan. Louise cooked at the Dairy Bar in Mountain City for several years. She was a member of Mountain City Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Drucilla Buckley and Amanda Potter; sisters, Delores Lamb, Judy Mannis and Shirley Dugger; brothers, Jimmy Butler Dugger and John Dugger; grandchildren, Angel Wilcox, Daniel Potter, Renee Hughes, Sarrah McFalls, Rachel Atlasy, Kristin Angell and Junior Isaacs; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Jones officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow from Bakers Gap Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Potter, Chip Wilcox, Lesley Buckley, Gary Phillips, Jr., Derrick Hughes and Christopher Fuentes, Honorary pallbearer will be Sterling Angell.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the staff of Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center. Louise never complained of the care she received and enjoyed lively banter with her nurses and caretakers. We could never thank you enough for all you did to care for her in the last years and we are forever grateful. You all are the best!
