Lovell Lloyd Green, 87, of Rozetta, Illinois, died at 10:45 p.m. September 11, 2025 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

After graduating from Biggsville High School, Lovell went on to attend the University of Illinois, graduating with a BS in agriculture. Following graduation, Lovell returned home and began a lifelong career of farming alongside his father and brother, Charlie. In their early years, they were livestock and grain farmers, eventually switching to only grain farming. Lovell and Charlie farmed many years together. After retiring from full-time farming, Lovell continued to work on area farms during planting and harvest season, in addition to operating his seed business for several more years.

On July 27, 1963, Lovell was united in marriage to Mary Jane Nagel in Monmouth, Illinois. Lovell is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane of Rozetta; one son, David (Beth) Green of Boonville, Missouri; one daughter, Nancy (Jack) Twite of Castle Rock, Colorado; six beloved grandchildren, Katherine (Tyler) Fortenberry, D.L. (Jessie) Green, Nathan Green, Alondra Green, Dwight Green, and Luis Green; and two beautiful great grandchildren, Liam and Whitaker. Lovell is also survived by two brothers, Charlie (Judy) Green of Rozetta and Jim Green of Burr Ridge, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Lovell was preceded in death by one sister, Eunice Carner.

Lovell was a lifelong member of Rozetta Baptist Church, serving in multiple roles throughout the years. Lovell served 6 years in the Army Reserves. He served two terms on the Union School Board as well as serving with the Henderson County Soil and Water Conversation District. Lovell loved his family, visiting the mountains and reading. He also enjoyed cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini.
