Lowell A. Greig, 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, December 29, 2025, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI.
He was born on October 28, 1932, in Iron River, MI, the son of Albert and Inez (Olson) Greig. Lowell attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the class of 1950. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.
In his younger years, Lowell worked in the local mines and later was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. Lowell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Iron County and The American Legion Reino Post #21 in Stambaugh. He enjoyed working on his tractor, tinkering in his workshop, working on small engines, being outdoors, cutting firewood, and spending time with his family. He was very proud of his yard and house.
Lowell is survived by his sons, Jeff (Raeanne) Greig and Bill Greig, both of Iron River, MI; daughters, Barbara (Mark) Dennis of Iron River and Mary (Gerald) Bousson of Garrison, ND; brother, Jon Greig of Dallas, TX; sister, Betty Karelse of East Lansing, MI; sisters-in-law, Sandra Greig and Carol Greig; grandchildren, Megan and Matt Greig, Neil Dennis, and Kali (Tony) Starkweather; great-grandchildren, Madison, Layla, Leianna, Wrenlee, and one on the way; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, David, and Phillip Greig and sister-in-law, Debbie Greig.
A visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor DJ Rasner to officiate.
Interment will be in Iron River Cemetery in the spring. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
