Lowell Dean Molt Sr., 92, of Mt. Pulaski, passed away February 4, 2025, at Country Lane Memory Care in Riverton, Illinois.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held Monday, February 17, 2025, at 11 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski. Visitation will be from 10 AM until 11 AM with Masonic Rites performed before the service. Lunch will be served at noon at the American Legion in Mt. Pulaski.
Lowell was born March 1, 1932, in Lincoln, Il., the son of Leon Lowell Molt and Reva Bernadine (Scroggin). He married Shirley (Rogers) on June 17, 1951. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Lowell worked at Stetson China, Cotton Mechanical, and Lincoln Developmental Center. Most notably, he was a steamfitter for over 50 years and he was a commercial fisherman on the Mississippi River for over 25 years. He caught and cleaned 40,000 pounds of fish during his last year, at the age of 82. It has been said that he could create any tool to make life easier. He was a gifted designer and builder and enjoyed fishing and hunting in what little free time he had. Lowell was respected in his community and was known to always lend a helping hand. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife Shirley Molt; his son Lowell Dean Molt Jr. "Pete" and Cynthia Wilson, his daughter Karen (George) Allspach; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, sister Jacqueline Lannin and brother Kenneth Molt.
Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Mt. Pulaski and will also be accepted at the funeral home.

Shirley Pete and Karen, JL and I are so very sorry to hear of Lowell´s passing. He was always a huge ray of sunshine at the family reunions and he surely will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him
