Lowell Simpson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hughey Funeral Home on Mar. 4, 2026.
Lowell "Dean" Simpson, 81, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, February 28th at 5 a.m.

Dean was born in Cisne, Illinois on Mother's Day, May 5th, 1944 to Edwin and Lorrene Simpson. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School.

Dean was a man of many talents. He retired from floristry in 2006. He loved creating beautiful works of art and took pride in switching out family members' cemetery arrangements each season. He enjoyed woodworking and furniture restoration and upholstery.

Perhaps most of all, Dean enjoyed buying and renovating campers. After getting them in top shape, he and Debbie would make their way down to Florida where they would snowbird along the coast, come back home, sell the camper, and start the process all over again.

Dean loved visiting tropical destinations. He often spoke about Florida and Hawaii, always planning his next trip. Most of all, though, he loved being home, surrounded by his loving friends and family and his dogs.

If you had the pleasure to know Dean, you knew he was funny, quick witted, and could always put a smile on your face. He made friends everywhere he went. Remember him as the man whose name was synonymous with fun and was full of life.

Dean was survived by his daughters, Gina & Gidget; wife, Debbie Borah; brother Richard "Dick" Simpson; sister, Janet Shelton; nieces Anita Vaughan and Cheryl Quinones; brother in laws, Perry "Bruce" Borah and Leslie Borah; nephews, Alex Borah, Perry Borah, Pierce (Holly) Borah; niece Emily (Josh) Donoho; great nephew and niece Jackson and Dorothy Donoho; and many more nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Edwin and Lorrene Simpson; his brothers Carol and Harlan Ray Simpson, his great niece Olivia Donoho, and his nephew Adam Borah.

A private gathering to honor Dean's accomplished life and legacy will be held at a later date.
